project life, 2016 week 37

I had an opportunity to go back to when I lost my mojo last September. I had a ton of photos from our Hawai’i trip and got overwhelmed back then. Didn’t find my mojo until December for December Daily and have been steady ever since.

I primarily used the Studio Calico Canyonlands documenter kit and scrapbook kit, along with the Ali Edwards Go Story Kit. I loved the transparent pieces that were travel themed and used them throughout the spread for continuity.20170312_084533.jpg

I had to get over my OCD-ness of having square corners with rounded corners — something I said I’d never do — but I couldn’t bring myself to throw away/donate a whole documenter kit just because it had rounded corners. A couple of deep breaths and I got through it. (Although it still bugs me looking at this photo.)

The colors from these two kits (Studio Calico and Ali Edwards) worked so well; I was really lucky. I had a lot more story than space here, so I took a 4×6 journaling card from the Go kit and printed on top of it. If you have questions about how I did that, let me know; I’d be happy to share my process!

Those digital brushes are an old set from Ali Edwards from back when her digital stuff was on Designer Digitals instead of her own website. She’s been slowly re-releasing all those files on her own website, but this one is not yet available.

Big heart eyes for those transparent pieces from the Go Kit.

I also needed an insert since there were so many photos from that week. Used one of the airplane transparent pieces from the Go Kit and some star sequins (?) from the documenter kit. Sealed it all into a pocket with my Fuse tool.

As I was working on this orientation of page, I realized why I don’t use it that often — because the 3×4 journaling cards are vertically oriented! Gossamer Blue prints the horizontal orientation on the backs of their cards, while Studio Calico has a different design on them usually.

Below is my process video for more details and such. Thanks for stopping by!
